Q Tripp • 07/26/2022, 10:30:49 PM I saw someone else asked about changing the oil, and you said there is a hole for the drain plug. But what about access to the oil filter? I heard the ARB skid system blocks access to the filter and has to be fully removed to change the filter.

A 12/05/2023, 5:24:47 PM Yes, it is compatible with the front bumpers that we offer.
Q Marty • 07/15/2024, 1:08:59 PM I see that the question about changing oil with the skid plate in place was previously asked and the answer was yes. However, is it possible to change it without creating an oil spill? My question pertains to the '21 full-size with 2.7. If you can, please share the trick to doing it neatly. I can't get it to drain slow enough to capture and contain the oil in any kind of funnel to channel it through the hole in the skid, nor will it reasonably drain off the skid if you just let it flow freely into the skid. Don't ask how I know....
A 07/17/2024, 10:21:37 AM A drain valve is a great option when draining the oil with skid plates still in place. Something similar to this.. https://www.fumotousa.com/f137n.html

Solid skids offer great protection
(NC) | October 4th, 2023
I have all four major skid plates, engine, transmission, t-case and gas tank. They've all got some battle scars but its only on the finish. They've worked well and haven't warped, allowing me to easily remove the engine skid to change my oil. I saw in the Q&A that someone asked about changing the oil with the skid in place. The answer JCR provided was yes, it can be done with the skid in place. I ask JCR, can you do it without spilling 7 quarts of oil on the shop floor with the skid in place? I haven't found a way, unless you have an aftermarket drain plug that will divert the flow straight down through the drain hole you mention is cut into the skid plate.
Note From JcrOffroad: Thanks for the honest review, Marty.
