Please note: vehicle will handle and wheel very differently with high loads on the roof. We recommend securing kayaks, canoes, and items that may generate resistance or lift at speed properly to the front and rear of the vehicle, not just the rack.
We recommend using paint protection film under the front and rear fairings, where they contact the vehicle. This will prevent dirt and debris from scratching the paint over time.

I had planned on mounting a roof top tent, as well as a 270degree awning, but do not want to potentially bend/break the drip rails on my wagoneer by overloading them.
A 05/17/2024, 10:34:31 AM We've comfortably had a tent with two adults and an awning installed on ours, but there is no official weight rating. Our rack helps spread that weight across the full length of the drip rails and should be able to handle both of the items you mentioned just fine.

Rack is well built and looks great, fits perfect too. My only issue is the clamps interfere with all my doors. JCR sent me new clamps but they also rub. Might work on a non grand Wagoneer but the clamps all rub on the chrome trim. I’ve had to remove all the drip rail covers to get a little more clearance but it still rubs. I might have to cut off about 1/16 or 1/8” off all of them to get them to fit. Once I figure out some new clamps it will be perfect and would be 5/5.
Note From JcrOffroad: Hey Scott, sorry for the hassles. We have the chrome trim on the 79 Chief at the shop as well without any rubbing. Not sure if our doors are adjusted lower, but they do match the body lines. Let us know if we can help in any other way with this.
