Q Daniel Krause • 08/27/2020, 7:20:45 PM This tray should be compatible with a red top optima battery correct? I’m sure it is I just wanted to be sure before ordering. Love the quality of my fuel take skid plate and vanguard tire carrier bumper by the way. Keep up the awesome work fellas!
A 09/09/2020, 1:49:58 PM Yes it will work with the red top.
Q Matt • 10/06/2020, 7:41:49 PM What are the dimensions of the battery holder? Will it fit a group 34 battery?
A 10/16/2020, 2:56:58 PM Yes, it will fit a group 34.
Q William Long • 10/09/2020, 11:10:46 PM I recently purchased a 96 XJ. The stock battery tray was broken and I also had to replace the battery. I bought another stock battery tray and an Odyssey extreme ODX-AGM34/78 PC1500. Battery doesn't fit the tray. I see your photos with an Odyssey battery. Does it fit your tray without modification? I have already spent a fortune on trays and a battery they said fit but doesn't. Mine also has the temp sensor. Thanks, Bill
A 10/16/2020, 2:56:58 PM That battery and your temp sensor will fit great in our tray.
Q Ethan N. • 12/10/2020, 12:52:40 PM Will this tray work on the driver's side of a Jeep XJ (where the stock air box is) for a second battery?
A 12/15/2020, 1:21:48 PM We have not tested it there. It would likely need to be mirrored to fit however.
Q Matt Hoerr • 03/11/2021, 7:55:55 AM What are the dimensions of the base (the footprint area)?
A 03/16/2021, 3:15:09 PM Roughly 7.5 x 10.125
Q Jack Sanders • 10/15/2021, 0:29:26 AM Does it sit lower than the stock tray so I can fit a little taller battery
A 10/28/2021, 11:13:00 AM We typically use group 34 batteries with this.
Q Grant • 08/25/2024, 8:52:26 PM Will this fit a 9.5”L x 6.9”W x 8.22”H (242.5mm x 176mm x 209mm) battery? (group 24)
A 12/20/2024, 4:49:30 PM Yes, it will.

American made
(New Hampshire) | August 25th, 2020
Can never go wrong with a JCR product, American made and it shows! Powdercoat is thick, metal is strong even the 3D sticker they send for it is legit. It can be a snug fit I paired mine with an odyssey battery with an upgraded power and ground wires. Battery isn’t going anywhere now! I would suggest spraying down your factory battery bracket hardware with some pb blaster a few days and advance.
Excellent fit

This thing fit perfectly and installed in no time. I’d definitely recommend it.

I'm Happy with it

I bought this for my 99 XJ, from reading reviews. The day before i knew i would be installing it i removed my battery and soaked all three nuts holding my old one on in WD40 and some KnockerLoose Penetrate and I wasn't shy with it. I let those soak for a day. The nuts came off fairly easy and i didn't break the bolts and the it actually took a lot of the rust off made them reusable. Now it was a tight fit but i set it in and didn't have to bend or modify it i started all three bolts first and worked it into a spot it fit, was tight but fit. Tightened her down. TIP before bolting down install the side studs that rise up to hold down on the top trying to put these on after bolting it down is tough lol. My batter fit well does touch my upper radiator hose but i have like a hose protector wrapped around that small area where the battery contacts it should be fine. Overall its extremely well built and sturdy wayyyy better than the old one. Thanks JCR!!!

I put this on my 98 XJ, and it's completely over built and the powder coating is pretty good. That being said it is a tight fit, almost to the point that it wouldn't go in. It's not tall enough on the back and touches the top of the fender well, so I had to bend it to get it in. Also I wish they would've supplied new nuts for the 3 bottom bolts instead of having to reuse my old rusty ones. But despite that this is a good upgrade to my broken plastic box. Thanks JCR.

You can't always keep the greasy side of an XJ down, but you can keep it from starting on fire with a secure battery in this steel tray. As always, JCR's quality is sky high. Because they don't write it in the specs, I crossed my fingers hoping that like the late model stock XJ trays, it would fit a type 34 without modification, and it does.
